Does ZUZA lock my phone or block apps?
Short answerNo. ZUZA does not lock the phone, block apps or charge it. It is a magnetic plate on your front doorframe plus a free app that counts how long the phone rests there. You can pick the phone up at any moment and the count simply stops. On Android, you can choose to let it turn on Do Not Disturb while the phone docks.
What happens when I put the phone on the plate?
The count starts. When you pick the phone up, the count stops. Nothing is locked, no app is closed, and there is no penalty or alert.
Android and iPhone: what is different?
- Android: only if you turn it on in the app settings and grant the permission, ZUZA switches the phone to Do Not Disturb while it docks, and returns it to its previous state on its own when you pick it up.
- iPhone: Apple does not let apps change Focus, Do Not Disturb or the ringer. You can set it up once yourself in Apple's Shortcuts app, and the ZUZA app shows you how. ZUZA itself does not change anything on the iPhone.

Does ZUZA charge the phone?
No. The plate holds the phone with a magnet. It has no charger.
Why a nudge and not a lock?
A lock asks you to fight it. A default only changes where the phone waits, and you stay free to choose. That is the idea behind ZUZA: how to use your phone less at home, and Beeri Tzori's story at beeritzori.com/en/about.
